Day 1

Lets go ahead and get this thing started...

We are in a dark time for sports this time of year, with only a few weeks of NFL football to enjoy, no College Football BCS fiasco to debate, and no baseball (not even spring training!) To discuss this leaves us with very little to rant and rave about. So we turn our attention to College Station's second son, thats right the one played on the hardwood.... basketball!

Our beloved Fightin' Farmers are ranked a lofty 10th place in the nation and sportin a fancy 14-1 record. That's right folks 14-1, the second best starting record in school history and all that under first year head coach Mark Turgeon...he's getting it done albeit with Billy's boys. This kind of a start should be no surprise to Ags anymore. After suffering through a well publicized "Dark Age" believe it or not there are actually people willing to pay to watch a maroon and white clad team throw the orange ball through a hoop. However with wins over NCAA juggernauts like Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas-Pine Bluff its hard to tell how gritty this new breed of Aggie basketball is. Yes, yes, yes spare me the Preseason NIT Championship talk. While the trip to New York was a great learning experience for this young Aggie team, all they really did was beat some overrated Washington and Ohio State squads on a neutral court.

The one other time the Aggies did decided to make a trip out of Brazos Valley, they fell the Arizona Wildcats and then interim head coach Kevin O'Neill. The Ags squandered an early 20-point lead while getting outscored by the Cats 50 -27 in the second half. Lucky for us, the Ags can chalk this up to a learning experience and hopefully make a run at the Big 12 title.

So there we have it, non-conference is all wrapped up, the boys open Big 12 play with the daunting task of facing the Colorado Buffaloes ::snicker:: in Reed Arena this Saturday. Hopefully the gauntlet that is the Big 12 regular season will get them ready for the big dance come march. Until then you can find me in the student section with a bucket of popcorn watching DeAndre Jordan dunk of poor unsuspecting fools.

Happy Hunting

what do you think Shermans main concern should be so for as recruiting this year should be, I feel receivers and a new tight end would you agree with this and what are your thoughts
